AirBaltic airline baggage rules

AirBaltic offers passengers a variety of baggage options tailored to different needs. Understanding the baggage conditions is extremely important, as it helps to avoid additional fees and inconveniences before the trip.

Carry-on baggage:

AirBaltic passengers can carry hand luggage, the dimensions and weight of which depend on the type of ticket:

  • Basic, Green, and Green Plus ticket holders may carry 1 piece of hand luggage (up to 8 kg, 55x40x23 cm) and one small personal item (e.g., a handbag or laptop).
  • Classic and Business passengers can carry 2 pieces of hand luggage with a total weight not exceeding 12 kg.

It is important to note that baggage must meet the size and weight requirements to fit in the overhead compartment or under the seat. If your baggage exceeds these restrictions, additional fees may apply or you may be required to check it as checked baggage.

Checked baggage:

The amount of checked baggage depends on the type of ticket purchased:

  • Basic – checked baggage is not included, but can be purchased for an additional fee.
  • Green, Green Plus, Classic – 1 piece of checked baggage (up to 23 kg, 100x80x50 cm) is included in the ticket price.
  • Business – 2 pieces of checked baggage (23 kg each) are allowed.

If your checked baggage exceeds the weight or size limits, additional fees may apply. We recommend checking the baggage policy and applicable fees in advance on the official airBaltic website.

AirBaltic is the largest airline in the Baltic region

airBaltic is one of the most modern and dynamic airlines in Europe. It stands out for its innovative business model, state-of-the-art aircraft, extensive route network, and high quality of service. Investments in sustainability, customer experience, and operational efficiency allow the company not only to maintain a strong position in the Baltic countries, but also to compete with major European airlines. For these reasons, airBaltic is one of the most attractive choices for both business and leisure travel.

AirBaltic is Latvia's national airline, founded in 1995. It is considered one of the most modern and innovative airlines in Europe, particularly distinguished by its flexible business model and modern fleet. The company's headquarters are located in the Latvian capital, Riga, which is also airBaltic's main hub. In addition, the airline has bases at Vilnius (Lithuania), Tallinn (Estonia), and Tampere (Finland) airports.

Route network and services

airBaltic offers passengers a wide range of flights covering more than 70 destinations across Europe, the Middle East, and the Caucasus region. The company's main goal is to connect the Baltic countries with the world's major cities and to provide convenient connections between Eastern and Western Europe. Among the most popular destinations are Paris, London, Berlin, Rome, Dubai, and many other cities.

The airline offers passengers several ticket types:

- Basic – the most economical choice, suitable for those traveling with hand luggage.

- Green – focused on sustainability and reduced environmental impact.

- Green Plus – provides more flexibility when changing tickets.

- Classic – allows you to check in baggage and change your flight date free of charge.

- Business – the highest class of service with additional privileges such as faster check-in at the airport, business class lounges, and better service during the flight.

Modern aircraft fleet

airBaltic stands out for its extremely modern and uniform aircraft fleet. Currently, the entire fleet consists of Airbus A220-300 aircraft, which are among the most environmentally friendly and economical in the world. This aircraft has lower fuel consumption and lower carbon dioxide emissions, which is why the company is actively pursuing sustainability and environmental protection goals.

In addition, airBaltic is one of the first airlines in the world to completely abandon older aircraft models and choose a single aircraft type. This allows for the optimization of maintenance, technical service, and pilot training processes, which ultimately ensures greater operational efficiency.

Sustainability initiatives

airBaltic actively invests in sustainability programs and seeks ways to reduce its negative impact on the environment. The airline is implementing several key measures:

- Biofuels – testing and promoting the use of alternative fuels that reduce CO₂ emissions.

- Lighter construction – the new Airbus A220-300 aircraft are lighter and therefore consume less fuel.

- Digitization – flight documentation and registration are increasingly being carried out electronically, reducing paper consumption.

Punctuality and service quality

Over the past few years, airBaltic has repeatedly been recognized as one of the most punctual airlines in Europe. In 2014, 2015, and 2017, the company was recognized as the most punctual airline in the world according to the OAG Punctuality League ranking. This indicator shows that *airBaltic* flights are usually operated according to schedule, with a minimal number of delays.

The quality of passenger service is also one of *airBaltic*'s priorities. The company is constantly improving its services, enhancing its catering offerings, and ensuring a comfortable flight experience for both economy and business class passengers.

Expansion plans and vision for the future

The company is constantly expanding its route network, seeking new markets, and implementing innovative solutions. One of the most important goals is to increase the frequency of flights from Riga, Vilnius, and Tallinn and to open new routes to North America and Asia.

airBaltic also aims to become one of the first airlines to offer greater use of biofuels and sustainable travel options for passengers. Investments in digitalization, technology, and service quality will enable the company to maintain its leading position in the Baltic States and strengthen its influence in the international aviation market.
